Welcome!

     More than 40% of the students at Dutchess Community College test into one or more developmental courses, which means that they need to work on their basic skills in Math, Writing, Reading, or Study Skills in order to become ready for college-level courses.

     This webpage is sponsored by the Educationally Disadvantaged Student Committee, which sponsors activities centered on student academic success, such as:

  • facilitating workshops and forums on strategies for teaching students in developmental courses;
  • organizing workshops on advisement of educationally disadvantaged students;
  • inviting speakers to address issues related to student learning differences;
  • collaborating with the reference librarians on updating the resources on developmental education.

     This web site was created to share information designed to help educationally disadvantaged students. You will find a host of information from research articles to study skills links and assessments, teaching strategies, best practices, and more.
